Find out more about Charlotte and her journey becoming an artist. About Me Hello! I’m Charlotte, a full-time artist and art teacher based on the South Downs in the UK. Since I can remember, I have always loved drawing and painting and over the years that passion has continued to grow into a never-ending desire to create. The Journey At University, I gained a 1st class BA (Hons) degree in art and education. This was an invaluable start as it not only enabled me to continue my art to degree level but it also allowed me to really hone my skills and understanding in how best to educate and nurture others. As part of my training, I also achieved qualified teacher status which led me to teach in schools and take on leadership roles whilst continuing with my own artwork in my spare time. After the birth of my daughter, I began building my art business whilst still working in schools part time. During this time, I wrote, illustrated and published my own children’s picture book ‘The Jungle Show’, launched my stationery business, created commission portraits and ran art classes for both children and adults. Finally, in 2022, I took the leap into working full time as an artist and independent art teacher. I currently run a range of A rt Courses , A rt W orkshops and Paint & Sip evenings whilst also producing my own collection of original artwork , prints and products . I also take on a range of commission work . The Artist I simply love the whole process of making art – from the initial idea or inspiration to the practice and process required to produce a finished piece. Although my first love was drawing with graphite pencil, as I have grown as an artist, I like to use a range of media. When I am not teaching, I can be found in my studio exploring new ideas and experimenting with different processes and techniques. This really is my happy place and even when I don’t end up with a finished piece, I always learn something through the process (sometimes that might be what not to do). It’s obviously amazing when you end up with a piece of art that you are really proud of but the act of playing around can be equally as rewarding. The Teacher Teaching art, for me, is not just about passing on skills and knowledge, it is about inspiring and nurturing others. It is important to me to provide a positive experience for everyone. People attend my classes for many different reasons and I like to feel that I create a welcoming environment where everyone can gain what they need from my classes. Whether that is learning or developing their artistic skills, having some mindful ‘me’ time or simply meeting new people and trying something different. Max, my loyal studio pup, would tell you that, in actual fact, he is the main attraction with doggy cuddles (for those who want them) all included free of charge! It is always wonderful to see everyone's confidence and skills develop and I just love to see the creative journeys taken by both the adults and children who attend my classes. It makes me a very proud teacher to see their work - not only the finished pieces but also the work in progress and the problem solving which takes place to develop as artists. Find out about the paint and sip events hosted by Charlotte and book a place on one. Paint and Sip Events I run regular Paint & Sip evenings in Petersfield, Botley, Liphook and Godalming. These evenings are very relaxed with everything you need provided and step by step instruction is given. A Paint & Sip evening is a great way to get creative without the commitment of a regular class or if you just fancy trying something a little bit different and creative. Everyone is welcome and you can book as a group or on your own. If you fancy the idea of a Paint & Sip evening but you would like to do this with a group of friends or for a special occasion, I do have availability to run private Paint & Sip evenings. These can be held at a venue of your choice, which could even be your own home. A Private Paint & Sip evening can be tailored to suit your own requirements. Find out more information about Charlotte's art workshops. Art Workshops I run a range of one off workshops throughout the year in Hampshire, Surrey and West Sussex. These sessions cover a range of skills and have different themes. They usually last between 2 hours and half a day. These sessions are great for anyone who would like to try something new, develop their skills or spend time doing something creative for themselves. They are prefect for anyone who likes trying one off activities or who is unable to commit to a course of classes. Being a doggy parent myself, I really do understand how these personalised drawings become such treasured pieces of artwork. Other Commission Work In addition to portraits, I also take on a range of varied commission work. If you are looking for a bespoke piece or artwork – something a little bit different, I may well be able to help you. It’s always exciting to create and I love a challenge. Whether you are looking for a bespoke, illustrated gift or a full sized mural, I would love to hear from you to discuss what I might be able to create for you. Here are just a few examples of the range of work that I have undertaken. How to Commission a Pet Portrait Once we have decided on the brief for your pet portrait, I will invoice for a 30% non-refundable deposit to book the commission. At this point I will give you an estimated time for completion. To create your portrait, I use professional paper and pencils (Faber-Castell, Caran D’ache, Derwent). I will communicate with you throughout the process with updates before sending you a photograph of the finished piece. When you are happy with the finished piece, I will prepare your portrait for delivery and invoice for the remaining balance. Reference Photographs The reference photo is really important. A clear image is key to me being able to create a likeness in your portrait. We can discuss this in detail, and I can advise on the most suitable image to create your treasured portrait. Sizes and Prices Postage and Packaging is an additional £10 and portraits can be shipped within the UK.

They last anywhere between 5 and 8 weeks depending on the length of the term.
